I consider to buy Gf Fx 5700 128mb non ultra from gigabyte. Is that good card? From what i read from anandtech article at http://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.html?i=1955&p=17 , i found that this card is a bit more noise than other cards. Its about +4.9dB more from 40.3dB. How loud is that? Is that more loud than 5000rpm regular fan that come along with athlon xp? And how about this card stability? Does anyone have experience with this card?

My sistem is Athlon XP 1500+ with 256mb ddr. My current Graphic card is Geforce 2 pro 32mb. Could i gain full performance from Gf Fx5700 with my sistem?

Thank you.

it's not that loud, 50dB mark is where it'll begin to annoy you. 40 +- 5 dB is definatly tolerable.

an observation: the noise level you were looking at was for the gigabyte 5700 ultra. the 5700 ultra cooler is not the same as the 5700. i built 2 computers today both using the GB 5700 which you specified. the cooler/fan was much smaller than the one on the ultra. didn't get a chance to see the 3D performance as the person wanted to install XP himself. o well ;) maybe next time.

your system is sufficient for that card. the performance gain would be a nice improvment from 32MB GF2

Speak for yourself, 40dba is plenty of noise for me, personally I would not buy a graphics card that was louder than 30dba. Even so, the 5700 from Nvidia is an absolute waste of money. If you're set on getting an Nvidia card you should be ONLY be thinking about getting one of the 5900 series. The 5900XT grinds the 5700 into dust and highly overclockable, and the same goes for the 5900 non-untra.

The 5700 costs around the same amount of money as the 5900XT and 5900nu and performs far worse, so there's no exscuse for buying it. If you do you'll be a naughty, naughty boy, lol.:)

Can't Find FX5900XT in my place. Even if its here, it will be overprice. Found Gigabyte GF FX 5700 for $160 (the cheapest one, other fx5700 price around $200 here) and Gigabyte radeon 9600XT for $185. I choose Fx5700 over radeon because the most games i play come from EA (FIFA series, NBA series, NFS Underground, Call of Duty, MOHAA) which i heard Radeon may have problem with some of these games and i wont take the risk. It dont want to upgrade a new card just to never playing games i like anymore.
