Good Morning Folks,

First time poster here.
I found this motheboard in my parent's pile of stuff.
It's a Gigabyte GA-Z68X-UD3H-B3 it won't POST or give off an image to the display.
I understand this is some legacy shtuff so either way its just some morbid curiosity as to what is wrong.

Behaviour: Plug all cables in CPU 8Pin +MB 24Pin
Flip power supply switch from 0 to 1
MB lights up (phase leds), cpu fan spin then shuts off
Tried screw driver fake the case power switch pins but nothing happens

I've looked at the below threads:
It had a broken link to another thread

I've tried 2 new power supplies 1 old.
Old Corsair 430W
New Thermaltake 500W
New ASUS 750W

CPU Intel Pentium LGA 1155
RAM Tried Gskill ripjaws, team group DDR3, generic Samsung 1333

After reading the articles I've tried forcing the power supply on with connecting the green wire (PWR-On) to gnd and forcing the gray (PWR-Good) wire to 5V.

Behaviour: Apply above modifications
Plug all cables in CPU 8Pin + MB 24Pin
Flip power supply switch from 0 to 1
MB turns on and stays on
but still no image, (VGA, DVI, Displayport) and phase leds are all on (Green, Yellow, Red, Red) manual just says that the leds are for CPU load. the CPU fan spins but the heatsink doesn't feel warm at all.

Any ideas?

Regards,
John.

Any indicator lights/LEDs? Some motherboards have an LED of some kind that can give some hint as to failure condition but most do not. I don't know about this one. Download the manual and look. If not, they all should have a little pin header (power led) that is connected to the power LED on the case or chassis. This header usually just give very basic ON/OFF to indicate power but some might actually do blink patterns that can hint at the failure or error condition. If no speaker onboard to give beep codes, there is always a speaker header to connect an external speaker.

Are there any signs of power being received to any devices? CPU fan spins? Is there even a cooling fan on the CPU? Is there a CPU for that matter? A conventional hard drive that can be heard spinning up? A little skimpy on the details of your setup.

Hi, yeah I hit the enter button by accident when I was using that quick entry form.

I've added all the details I know currently. approximatly 10 minutes go.

To answer your questions, the only LEDs on this MB are those Phase LEDs at the top corner, and according to the manual they are aparently indcating the CPU load.

I have not tried putting this thing into case to use the case power led indicator but can try. Been testing this out of the case since it was giving me issues even posting.

It's just on top of cardboard box at the moment. Modified the Thermaltake 500W to power on as soon as the IO switch in the back of it is switched and the constant 5V PWR_Good mod. Just connecting it to a VGA monitor at the moment. Yes the CPU fan spins, Phase Leds are Green, Yellow, Red, Red, top to bottom. No speaker, no gpu, no HDDs, no SSDs. I've tried another processor instead of the Pentium it's an Intel Core i3 still same behavior.

Reset or clear CMOS (BIOS) by jumper according to user manual? I just remember many years ago having similar issue and someone ask was I receiving any beep codes. So I connected a speaker and dang it if the mobo wasn't putting out a beep code all that time and I don't realize it because no speaker.

It was during a period where just about all mobos were coming with the little piezo speaker onboard. I had gotten accustomed to that and didn't think to attach an external speaker.
