GIGABYTE GA-P55-UD3R mem slot problem?

Just installed this with a i 750 and 4 gb of Ripjaws memory (pc3 12800)

It seems that if I put the mem in slots 1-3 I see only 2 gb. If I put it only in slot 1, see 2gb as it should. If I put anything in slot 3 alone, then it beeps and no boot.

So I guess slot 3 is doa? If so, this really sucks. Am I right, or anything extra I could try?

Update, again bios only show 2gb installed but when viewing under Windows 7 it shows 4gb but only 2 available, in viewing basic info about computer. ??

thanks..>Sam

This is somewhat confusing but most 4-dimm P55 boards are designed this way (if you are looking at the slots from Left to Right):

DDR3_2 (1st slot)
DDR3_1 (2nd slot)
DDR3_4 (3rd slot)
DDR3_3 (4th slot)

The general rule for P55 boards is when installing 2 sticks of ram only, always use slots DDR3_1 and DDR3_3. Therefore, install your memory in slots #2 and #4 first, not slots #1 and #3, as can be seen in this picture: http://forums.tweaktown.com/attachm...g-gigabyte-ga-p55-ud3r-excellent-img_2043.jpg

UD3R Manual: http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Support/Motherboard/Manual_DownloadFile.aspx?FileType=Manual&FileID=19795

Chapter 1, Section 1-4, Pg.16 outlines the proper memory installation procedure:

Due to CPU limitations, read the following guidelines before installing the memory in Dual Channel mode.

1. Dual Channel mode cannot be enabled if only one DDR3 memory module is installed.
2. When enabling Dual Channel mode with two or four memory modules, it is recommended that memory of the same capacity, brand, speed, and chips be used for optimum performance. When enabling Dual Channel mode with two memory modules, be sure to install them in the DDR3_1 and DDR3_3 sockets.

Hi,

Thanks for the response but they are in the correct slots. 2nd and 4th. I have tried both sticks in slots 2 and 4, they are good, but with anything in the fourth slot is not recognized. I guess it is a bad board.

Hmm,

I either buy another 4 gb of Ripjaw or rma the board. Damn..did your's beep and nnot post if you just had 1 stick in slot 4?

thanks...

I have the same board and I had the same problem, but all 4 slots will read when you have them all filled.

1. BIOS F5?
2. Did you disable Turbo Memory just in case?
3. Did you enable XMP Profile 1?
4. Is your vDIMM voltage at least 1.60V?
5. What speed is the ram running at?
