I've had this board since January and it has now crashed for the second time. First time seemed to be Nvidia drivers for 8600gts. Did a clean install of XP pro with new Nvidia drivers. Worked fine for a couple of months. Now it just keeps re-booting. Can I replace this mobo with another as long as it's a P35 chipset without having to reinstall XP? Seems to be quite a few problems with this board and they have now replaced it with another model.

Rebooting because of what? Turn off automatic restarts in Windows and see what the error is. It might not be the board.

Ok. Got it to restart and turned off auto restart. How about my original question.......new mobo without reinstalling windows?

I wrote this back on 25 May 08;

( About your not re-installing XP question..I recently installed this mobo ( DS3L ) using XP Home..my previous mobo was a Via chipset unit..all I did was delete the Via mobo drivers..all of them.. in control panel, went into the registry and deleted all the Via entries that I could find using the search/find function. Shut her down, then installed the DS3L..I had previously downloaded all the latest drivers from the Gigabyte site for the DS3L, on the initial boot up I noted a hard drive light problem that was fixed after the boot sequence..XP did the deed and found all my hardware..when my sys stopped thrashing and was stable..I installed the Gigabyte drivers and all was fine. Go for it. )

I don't see any problem..just have the latest drivers and files for your new mobo of choice ready on your HD and do it. If you are haveing any XP OS issues..then you might reconsider your decision. Mine was running just fine at the end of May..and still is.

Well, at least that is encouraging. This one ran fine for a couple of months the first time and same thing after the clean install. In doing more searching, it does seem that this board has some bios issues. Some have had problems with Crucial memory also, and that is what I am using.
Any and all comments welcome.
