Not bad. $99 at Newegg and out of stock. Nice board with a lot of features. Built one at work, very quick.

Watch out with these boards and any 125W AMD processors (includes the Athlon x2 6400+ and a couple of the new Phenoms).

Anandtech reported a bunch of motherboard failures when using the high power draw processors.

I ran into random issues with the Asus micro atx board where the processor would slow down every 30 seconds or so for a 5 second burst. Temps stayed under 40 degrees C with the stock Heatsink, AMD Power monitor and Overdrive didn't report any throttling, Cool and Quiet was turned off. A 6000+ in the same board ran just fine.

It's got everything but the kitchen sink built in to it. Esata, HDMI, firewire, tons of USB port, DVI, Optical out audio, great video......we've sold several systems at work based off of this board, all worked great so far.

will the HDMI output work even with an additional video card installed?

Yes, I read an article that tested this MB with an additional HD3450 video card (that is only $31 ATM), and that combo supported 4 monitors. On the MB, the two channels are #1- VGA, #2-HDMI or DVI.

I'm assuming the HDMI ports to the receiver include sound output as well?

If you want surround audio over HDMI, best wait for nVidia's 8200.
Audio q/a
Price should be about the same. Newegg already has an ECS 8200 model (currently oos).
Best to wait for Gigabyte or Asus for better overclocking and more features like USB 3.0 and eSATA.

Edit: nVidia's website info doesn't mention 8200 having USB 3.0 or eSATA and Asus's model doesn't have either according to its website. However, a couple of sites have pictures showing gigabyte's model as having both, though I question whether or not they confused the 8200 with the 780g.

Is nVidia's version intel CPU or AMD? The main downfall for the 780G imo is that it uses AMD chips and I wanted to go with intel ones.

Also, does anyone have experience with the sound quality of these outputs? I know that the sound outputs through the receiver 1st, and every receiver has its own quality of sound. Does the mobo just send the data and let the receiver do the sound processing? This matters a lot since I don't want to waste my speakers on low quality sound. Thanks again

Best do a bit of reading in the AVS thread as they are serious about A/V. And the 8200/8300 will be out for Intel probably sometime this summer.

The reason that this board is cheap, is that the GPM model is coming out soon. It's a 780G refresh, with 5-phase VRMs (so as to hopefully support the 125W Phenom CPUs), and with SidePort, an additional 128MB of DDR3 to be used by the onboard video. You would think that would make the onboard video competitive with a 64-bit discrete card, but it still isn't quite there.

I'd wait and get the newer board, if only for the ability to run higher-end CPUs in it.

Linkified. About 25 bucks more.

gigbyte-usa.com's page says that it does support 125W cpus.
