GIGABYTE GA-EX58-UD5

In the specifications of this motherboard, it states support 3 SLI/ 3 ATI crossfire.

Is this true ?

And if it is, is this the first board with this ability ?

I have a question, how are those four purple SATAs connected? (What chipset?) Usually you only get two extra with the standard Jmicron chipset. I assume that the six yellow SATA are off of the ICH10R.

Ok, it appears that the four Jmicron SATA ports (now colored white in the retail version) are divided up into pairs of ports, with additional hardware controller chips for each pair. So it looks like it will do mirroring or striping, without additional driver support. But to use those ports for individual drives, you can only use one port out of each pair.

What's the purpose of the first PCIe x1 slot? The NB heatsink completely blocks it?

Yes I understand that....But that wasnt the answer I was looking for.

Based on the specs of the board I linked to, it leads me to believe that you can run 3 Nvidia cards, or take them out and run Crossfire.

Meaning, does it support SLI and Crossfire setups ?

This page here I think explains it though.

It is hands down the best X58 motherboard other than the GIGABYTE EXTREME in which the only difference is the water-cooling ready NB heatsink. I can't find any other board that offers x16,x16,x8.

I understand people tend to prefer the products they are using, but without experiences with other motherboards please dont mislead other people as that's the only x58 board you have.

I didn't mean it like that. I meant specification wise. There isn't another motherboard with a 24GB RAM limit, DDR3 2000+, x16,x16,x8, dolby home theater, 3x SLI/CrossfireX.
