Gigabyte GA-EP35-DS3R clock losing minutes per day

I have a new Gigabyte GA-EP35-DS3R v2.1 motherboard (w/E8400) with Windows XP Pro. It appears the clock is losing several minutes a day.

From what I can tell, when the machine is turned "off" at night, the clock is fairly accurate upon reboot the next morning (I'll check this again tonight to confirm this behavior).

I'm using a quart watch which syncs daily via an internal radio with WWV as my time reference.

Any ideas where to start diagnosing this problem?

Check from being off overnight for 7 hours - clock drift was less than 1 sec.

Wouldn't the reasonable accuracy when turned off suggest the battery was ok?
