From review in Tom's Hrd.Ware.

The Gigabyte GA-81RXP is an overclockers' nightmare, according to the inhabitants of alt.comp.periphs.mainboard.giga-byte. Manual adjustment of the voltage results in severe reboot problems, many report. And they express their frustration with Gigabyte's inability to solve the problem for this much-lauded supposedly enthusiast-friendly board.

nice review but i am still going with the gigabyte board. there are many posts here on the gigabyte board here too and there are many more success stories than nightmares. i think that if you just go step by step, you should just do fine.

ah well, will let you guys know over the weekend how my experience will go.

Ok I got the Gigabyte GA8IRXP motherboard with an 1.6 P4 Northwood core running at 2.5 Gigs with no problems. The only thing that I cant do with the board that I would like to be able to do is set the memory to run at 2.66XFSB. I am using some Corsair PC 2700 and I know that it can run at above 345MHz but no matter what I do I cant even get it to run stable on the board without having a 2.00XFSB memory setting. Has anyone got there board to run the memory to faster that 345Mhz? If you did please let me know what type of memory you are using and what settings you are using to get it to run at that speed. I would rather have the CPU run at 2.133 GHz with the memory at 177Mhzx2 then 2.5 and 150Mhzx2 because the type of stuff I use the computer for really needs the memory bandwith, eg video rendering and editing. Any info on this would be greatly appriciated
Thanks Mike

The board does have a lock function for the PCI/AGP. Set it PLL/16 in te advanced menu and that will lock it to spec (ie read the manual)! I have 2 sticks of Kingmax PC2700 running at 354 mHz with no problems at all (except the soft reboot issue which won't allow me to restart the computer without first turning it off than back on). This is a kick ass motherboard, and whoever said that this thing was a peice of crap for overclocking is a joke! This is the same board Tom took his 2.4 to over 3 gigs with, and the board is rock stable and solid. I have been running my 1.8A at 2.4 for well over a month now without a single hiccup!

Just got a Gigabyte GA-8IRXP, and I noticed there is no clear CMOS jumper on the motherboard. Do I need to remove the battery every time when the BIOS is messed up? :|

No wait 15 seconds before reboot and should reset to default, make sure you have version f6 bios solved alot of rebooting issues. :)
