Gigabyte DQ6 + ThermalRight SI-128

Hi,

Reading a thread made by Madellga I saw his configuration.
So my question, for him or any others who have similar configuration, is :
I want to buy a gigabyte DQ6 and I would like to know if this cooler is good ? do I have to unmount the "crazycool" feature of the MB ?

I don't see any fan ? so do I need a 120 mm fan ?
I'm not an overclocker ... and I want a silverstone LC17 as Case.

This case and the thermalright are compatible ?

thanks in advance.

Hi,

The SI-128 does not require a special back plate. You can attach directly to the 4 holes into the mobo - no problems with the crazy cool from the DQ6 - you can leave it alone.

The cooler is good. You need also to buy a 120mm fan, which is attached to the cooler using 2 metallic wires/springs.

I don't know about the case you want. I have 2 SI-128, one mounted inside an Antec P160, another one inside an Enermax Chakra (as per my signature).

Hey Madellga what kind of temps are you getting with the SI-128 on ur O/C'ed chips?

Also DEFINETLY install this thing before you mount ur motherboard into your case.

Apart from my terrible time installing the thing it is a great heatsink.

It's actually easy to install IF the mobo is out of the case.

Core temp show 55 to 59C under load. Bios CPU temp are normally 10C lower than Core Temp.

This is why I think 3.2GHz and 1.3725 VCore is the limit for the moment.

The SI-128 replaces the SI-120, which was one of good coolers with heat pipe. I don't think that other air cooling solutions will do substantialy better.
