Gigabyte 9600XT Issues

So I recently got FarCry and decided I wanted to play it. Well i install it and go through the whole story introduction and I finally get to play. After about 5 minutes or less the game freezes, the screen goes black and i get the stupid VPU Recover error. Why is this happening and can someone let me know how to fix this?

My specs are as follows:
AMD 64 3000+
Gigabyte GA-K8NS Pro
512MB Geil PC3200 DDR
Gigabyte ATI Radeon 9600XT

first off, you have a 9600xt...lol (get a 6800 gt) no but really did you use drive cleaner, install chipset drivers, and turn off fast writes.

haha, yeah im on the college budget so....

anyways, how do i turn of fast writes? and how to i use drive cleaner? i downloaded the most recent drivers from the gigabyte website so that should be good.

if you could let me know, or point me somewhere to find how to do the two things id appreciate it!

He bought a new game, not a new video card. Why would he use driver cleaner? Did you mean so that he could update his CAT drivers to 4.9 or something?
