I gave up waiting for the prices to drop further. I just placed an order for a pair of EVGA 8800GT stock clocked at Zipzoomfly for $249.99 each + 10.24 for 2 day shipping. They will be used in two different builds I am doing, not SLI. Same board is $269.99 at Newegg.

I will... but from these http://www.hardwarezone.com/ar...php?cid=3&id=2435&pg=7 benchmarks u can see that this card doesnt exceed 45C while the other ones are over 70... thats y this card is so rare to find coz every1 been grabbbing em like crazy... and the card performs always second out of 6... after the Asus TOP card which is overclocked more than this 1....

looks like u gotta wait till 1/1/2008 for newegg to have it back in stock... check ComputerHQ.com they have it for a lil more $280 shipped and supposebly they told me they will have it in stock tomorow Friday... but i cant count on em... since i had ordered it like 2 days ago while it showed 30 cards in stock and they called me telling me they dont have any in stock but Friday they should get em.
heres their link http://www.computerhq.com/GIGA...artinfo-id-992860.html

Call em before u place order... n check if they have it in stock... coz i doubt it

But if this card has the Zalman vf700 and the MSI has the Zalman vf1000... I think that clearly the MSI is a better card than this one...

And then you have the ECS with the accelero and the option to 120mm fan

The Gigabyte cards appear to be using a non-reference pcb. I'm curious if the fan is able to adequately cool the memory and vrm's.

I read that Gigabyte is using their mobo pcb's for this video card.

Here is a link to the temp testing page of a review for this card:
Hardware Zone review

BTW, mine just arrived from NewEgg today. Can't test it yet because I still need more parts for the build. Really surprised at how short the card is, about 7 7/8". This should be great for airflow, since I'm putting it in a SFF case.

Thats fascinating, I wonder if this helps anything, like power or temps since I would assume that PCB would be thicker and alot sturdier.

I wouldn't be so hasty to believe that.

First of all, the MSI has an aluminum heatsink, not copper like the retail version of the vf1000.
MSI launches NX8800GT Zilent

Second, even a clear advantage on paper doesn't translate to real world results. Who has tested this card?

Third, whats the price? You have to know to make a fair comparison.

Fourth, even if all of the above check out, where can you get the MSI? Can you find anyone who has ever been able to buy it?

any else notice this card doesnt come with vram heatsinks? Thats probally whats causing those lockups that people are talking about in the newegg review.

This also only has the vf700 as opposed to the better vf900 or even the newest vf1000.

From the review

"The memory modules are left exposed but according to our testing, were cooler than those on the standard GeForce 8800 GT, thanks to the air flow induced by the Zalman Cooler."

The thing is that GDDR3 is rarely gets hot.

I think the lockups are due to having a bad batch of vram itself from Quimonda.

Got mine today I dont really game that much but hdcp for some reason or another did not work on the bfg 8600 gt I had in my system. I did run the fear benchmark and went from 102 average to 152 with this card. The main reason I bought it was for the better video quality I thought the 8800 series would have, as I play with a lot of high def and standard video on my machine. And im not disappointed, picture and video quality is much better. the card is also very quiet.

Yeah got mine too a couple days ago... Overall im satisified no noise no lockups on crysis or cod4... the only problem im having is that Rivatuner is showing the card always on 2d clock speeds... so when i game it doesnt change to the default 700mhz and 1940 mhz ... it seems like its stuck on 450 core and 700 memory clocks... :(... and im not even sure if it relle is a problem with the card or with the Rivatuner...

more details on this thread i started... http://forums.anandtech.com/me...=2138881&enterthread=y
