Gigabyte 7DXR and Athlon XP 1700+ -- help!

Hi all---
I am a newbie to building my own system and I am currently in the process of inserting my processor (XP 1700+) into my motherboard (7DXR), but I have a quick question...
When I go to insert the processor, I pull the lever on the mboard up, place my processor in position (pins line up fine), but when I go to push the lever back down, there is some resistance to it. Is this supposed to happen? I am afraid that if I push too hard on the lever, I could risk ruining my processor and/or mboard!

Thanks in advance! 🙂

Yes it is fine. However if u feel that you are pushing the lever down with too much force, recheck to see if u have placed the cpu correctly into the socket.

Thanks again!
