Hello everyone. I'm fresh to the forums and a novice pc builder. I have been on an extensive search for some information about this particular motherboard. I purchased one a few months ago and there seems to be some confusion as to whether this board supports 1600mhz RAM. Some say yes, some say no. Some say the ram has to be overclocked, some say the board downclocks to 1333 no matter what. Gigabyte's website only says 1333 however they're not known for updating their site frequently. The motherboard supports FX series chips and it doesn't even say that on the site. Just wondering if someone here actually knows.

I have this very motherboard in my budget gaming rig and I can confirm that the 1600mhz Corsair Ballistix memory I borrowed while waiting for staples to deliver my very cheap 1333 4gb sticks (3.50 a piece) DO run at 1600. Hope that helps!

EDIT: Also--Welcome to the forums! Also there are two versions of this board. Mine is the newer 5.0 version--the main color is black. I don't know if the 4.0 and lower version (blue) does support higher clocked memory.

I have the 4.1 revision but i checked the specs of the 5.0 rev and they looks exactly the same. So i'm gonna go out this weekend and buy a couple of ram sticks and test it out. Guess that's the best way to find anything out really. Thanks for the help and for welcoming me to the forums.

+ I'm still in awe the Staples sells ram that cheap lmfao
