I have 900mhz athlon machine that uses the gigabyte 71xe4 motherboard. The usb of the motherboard is on the died about a year ago and I think the Mobo is about ready to drop dead any day. I have been unable to find the same motherboard anywhere for sale...I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good replacement motherboard for this machine. I am not really interested in upgrading the machine just want to keep it running and to do so I will need a new mobo. I need I suggestions. (PS: I am not interested in spending a fortune)
 
Well the 71xe4 does not seem to exist. Perhaps you mean the 7Zxe?

I'll assume you have pc133 ram, and not ddr. That limits your choices. I would check newegg for boards with the KT133a chipset, same as you have on the 7zxe. There are a ton of old KT133a motherboards for almost nothing on ebay. I sold two for under $35 each.
 
No it definitely exists it is in my machine...http://tw.giga-byte.com/MotherBoard/Products/Products_GA-7IXE4.htm... unless you know how to fix an onboard USB port (meaning most of the components have fallen out of it) also the metal piece separating the two ports moves. If my cat jumps on the computer it may cause it to move just enough that on the next reboot the computer can not get past "Checking NVRAM" until I fiddle around with the metal piece in the USB port. So i am really looking to replace it, but it is about 3 years old still any suggestions?
 
wow, that is definetly broken. Do you have pc133? If so, you will have to find a board that supports it, unless you want to buy new ram. The kt133a motherboards are the best with pc133
 
How many sticks of PC1xx RAM do you want to reuse?

Alot of AT forum users have used this ECS board with great success.
If you'll notice, it will support your existing memory and allow you to upgrade to DDR if you choose to in the future.
