area varies with the square of diameter so unless the fans spin really fast (and are thus probably noisy), what is the point? Seems a lot worse than having 3x80mm or 2x90mm fans or something like that which would give you more than twice the area and probably be a lot less noisy, too.

It looks like it'll blow all the other ones away. You won't hear a peep out of them, or anything else for that matter.

Here is a under-side picture I found. The copper base is almost water block like.

I wonder if you connect paper/cardboard wings on it that could take off and fly!

Why not just use a 200 cfm 120x38 Delta fan? Or an 80x38 ultra kaze (They still make those?) Would be as effective but probably quieter.

That's a huge vapor chamber base...

The idea I guess is to increase fin density to triple slot levels, then use that created space on the top for fans. It clearly will give them far more surface area.. However you have to wonder how much air those little fans will push without sounding like a swarm of bees.

They can then have another, limited edition model. Call it the windforce 5x galeforce typhoon turbine extreme edition. And of course charge a premium for it. It would be necessary to cover the cost of printing the label (what with all those letters).

I have orders the wind force 3x. That's looks pretty with three fans.

Is that a good slightly overclocked card?

I haven't heard great things about the Gigabyte Windforce cards. What is bad, though, is that the Asus and MSI coolers tend to outperform them while only using 2 fans. It's all about the heatpipes and the fin design IMO. More fans does not equal better cooling.

I built a friend a raven 2 with the gtx580 wind force, great card, abosulety quiet as, even on a high clock....
I can't see the point of U1 server fans on this card, my U1 servers scream with those fans....

You know, besides all of the noise this design is likely to put out there's also all of the added complexity. 5 fans all with the chance to malfunction, all using power, etc...

This looks like one of those things an engineer did on a napkin in the break room for grins and giggles. Some stupid manager found it and presented it as his idea. Then the even dumber board thought it was awesome. :D
