Gigabyet Dq6 forces XP install to F, not C

Going to post this here also, in addition to the Mobo forum. Maybe you guys can figure it out

just got a Dq6. I am using the Intel Southbridge SATA raid controller with two mirrored drives.

But for some reason during install Windows sees two"unknown drives" and I have to install my OS on drive F:

After I get all Xp installed and the run the gigabyte CD that installs all windows specific drivers, the drives are actually two USB drives. But I don't have ANY usb drives attached to the PC!

I do have my gigabyte Sata controller enabled as "IDE"

Suggestions? It doesn't matter if I use the Intel Sata controller or the Gigabyte sata controller, both want to install XP on "F"

Are there any external drives on the computer when you are trying to install Windows? If so, unplug them.

The USB drives aren't showing up because they are trying to use F. You have to go into Drive Management and change their drive letters. Right click on My Computer and go to "Manage". Then go to Drive Management. Right click on the drives and change the letter so Windows will see them.

Memory-card readers are USB drives too, so unplug any and all USB storage devices. If you do have a memory-card reader, then run Windows Setup from CD. When it shows the disk partitions, delete them all, then press the F3 key twice to exit from Windows Setup after deleting the partitions.

Now run Windows Setup again and make a partition, and it should get drive letter C:.

yep, it was the SD/CF card reader. But I didn't have any partitions to delete, just "Unknown Drive". Unplugged the SD/CF reader from my mobo, installed winxp without any issues.
