Gigabit n00b here with a question.

If your cabling isn't up to snuff, will you only get 100Mbit out of your network, or is it possible to get speeds between 100 and 1000?
 
If your cabling isn't up to snuff, you'll be doing good to get 100Meg.

If it's really bad, you'll be doing good to get 10Meg.
