Hi there guys,

So I've recently bought item 280527432203 on ebay - it's a cat5e cable, 20 meters.

I have it plugged into my WNDR3700 (gigabit ports), and the other end into my ideapad (gigabit NIC), but only get 100mbit.

Any idea what the issue could be? cable itself clearly states cat5e too, and it's a reputable seller - no sketchy crap from nowheresville.

plugging my laptop with a short cat5e cable that came with the router yields the gigabit link i'd expect...

Have you tried snipping off the ends and crimping down new ones? I'm pretty sure Gigabit Ethernet uses all four pairs of wires, so an incorrect end could land you with 100Mb speeds.

Just buy new. Terminating your own ends = world of hurt.

It may be a bum cable 30 meters is getting at the spec limit for a patch cord. Try monorprice.com.
