Here is the deal, I recently bought a WRT600N v1.1 and flashed the firmware to DD-WRT. I can connect to both computers fine, and both is auto-negotiated to 1Gbps, even the router showed orange indicating a gigabit connection.
Now comes the trouble, I transferred 1.5GB file from one PC to my WHS, and it maxes at around 8MB/s going perhaps up to 9.25MB/s at most. Is there any settings that I need to take into consideration for Vista x64 when I am switching to a Gigabit network?
Also, I'm not sure about my cable, It may or may not be CAT5e, but if it was CAT5, would it still sync at 1Gbps, wouldn't it auto-negotiate down to 100Mbps if the cable didn't allow the throughoutput?
Any insights into my slow transfer rate would be great. thanks.
