Gift Suggesstions Part I: For The Cook

GasX

Lifer
Got any good suggestions for gifts for the cook?

I am looking for ideas, but I will throw a few into the ring.

knives
a nice ceramic paring knife
a nice Santuko
a nice chef's knife

Lodge logic Cast iron cookware (especially 12" skillet and 9 quart dutch oven)
Ebleskiver pan (fun for all ages!)
KitchenAid Mixer attachments (if they have a kitchen aid mixer)
KitchenAid immersion blender (highest rated one I could find)

Homemade simple syrups (we make peppermint and vanilla and sometimes give them out as gifts)

Cookbooks that also serve as nice coffee table books (e.g. Alinea cookbook or anything by Thomas Keller)

That weird tube you roll garlic in to remove the skin (forgot the name)

Pampered Chef sells some awesome products. They've added whole knife sets and cookware and everything along with the normal gadgety type things.

Host a catalog party, get tons of free stuff, and you can get him/her more than you normally could.

Knives
Cookware - The 11" Griddle is awesome

Check out Slick Deals, there have already been some great bargains. Don't know your price range, but look at Oxo good grips on Amazon if you want to do gadgets...or a kitchen aid blender if they don't already have one. I got this immersion blender from Costco several months ago for like $30 and it kicks ass: Cuisinart Smart Stick Blender
or for the Ice Cream Enthusiast: Cuisinart Ice Cream Maker

Hrmm, those ceramic knives look pretty awesome - I think I'm going to get one or two of the Kyocera knives for my wife - thanks for the idea!
