any ideas on what to get a really great boss? he's taking off for a higher paying job (eng. to finanical analyst) any suggestions?
 
a nice good luck card and a gift certificate to a nicer restaurant close to his new office.

he is leaving for more money. You get him a card to Applebees or Friday's

it doesnt matter WHY he is leaving... the OP seems to really admire him and I think a gift certificate to a nice restaurant would be appropriate.
