I'd stay away from gift baskets, flowers, and chocolate. Movie tickets or certificates for dinner would probably be a nice token.

As far as chocolates being a gay gift.. The common sign of appreciation among corporate types seems to be food... You guys are still in junior highschool so I understand your homophobia... There's nothing wrong with giving a guy chocolates... Don't give him a heart shaped box, mind you.. Or give him a flowerly greeting card with it.. Give him a box of chocolate and say "thanks for helping out" followed by a firm handshake.. totally heterosexual and classy.. I'd say alcohol is classier and even more heterosexual BUT you can get in trouble and it's not exactly professional...

i gaurentee if you buy him chocolates, a watch or a smoking jacket or something queer like that hes gonna think your coming on to him, if you want to say thanks invite for a beer or something or maybe get him a gift certificate to a good local restaurant.

if you are trying to come on to him then get him chocaltes and flowers, either way i'm just trying to let you know how its gonna play out and i am not judging you.

I guess you have to be fairly confident of yourself to give and receive chocolates as a gift.. Lighten up people, it's freaking cocoa mixed with milk and sugar.. Nothing sexual about it! I've received chocolate as a gift from my uncle last year and I didn't blow him under the thanksgiving's day table in return..

If I must get into the history of this: Cocoa beans were used as currency during ancient times. Through time, classy people would give chocolates (often small dark chocolate pieces covered in gold foil) as small signs of appreciation. Sure, due to the commercialization of Valentine's Day, chocolate does seem to some as a token of love as well.. But in most cultures, chocolate is still seen as a token of appreciation (not just of love)... But, again, you gotta be pretty mature about yourself.

One of those meat sticks you don't have to refrigerate. Wait, he might thing you were coming on to him with that. How about travel mug, so he can drink his coffee while delivering packages.

Hockey tickets?

Along the same lines, but a little less "personal" (for those who are worried about the gay thing), tell the guy you appreciate his efforts, and you would like to get him lunch. (NOT take him out to lunch... :p) Many places I have worked at order pizza one day a week, offer to throw in for his share. If there are nearby deli's, etc, by your office, ask him which one he prefers, and what he would like. Stuff like that.

Key thing: Don't get pushy. If he doesn't bite, let it go. No sense making it worse, if he does start to get uncomfortable about your "advances." (Even if he imagines them.)

Take him to a gay bar in a totally unsexual way!

If your gonna give him chocolets then you might as well Box yourself up and ship the box to him. When he recieves it pop out nude and say "Your package has arrived big boy"
