Giants going after DeAngelo Hall

Yeah! I would trade the first round pick for him. The Giants pick last obviously, so it won't be a top tier prospect, and adding Hall would vastly improve the secondary. As far as his perosonal issues, they said the same things about Plaxico. That worked out pretty good. Do it, I say!

Good luck with that. Hall is obnoxiously overrated & the opposite of a team player. Considering there are better CBs becoming free agents, I don't know why they'd trade for Hall.

Hall is an excellent cover corner. Call him overrated if you wish, but there is very little doubt the guy can play. The team player thing is exactly what they said about Burress before he came to NY.

The only decent free agent CB is Samuel, with Trufant and the guy from Oakland getting the franchise tag. I'm not convinced that Samuel is anything more than a product of the NE system.

You're welcome to him. He's been a source of frustration for the Falcons and he obviously isn't going to work out in Atlanta.

As a falcons fan i agree. That and they, the falcons, won the coin flip so hopefully they get A good QB that does not turn into a bust.

Didn't hear that Trufant got franchised, that sucks.

Hall is not an excellent cover corner. He's good, but not great. He's a gambler - he gets burned as often as he makes a great play. I'd take him, but not for a 1st round pick, and he certainly shouldn't have made all of those Pro Bowls.

As for the attitude - he himself cost them a game due to his attitude, remember that one? The team handed him a pretty hefty fine and benched him, didn't they? That's a bit worse than Burress.

As someone who has watched every Falcons game, feel free to have him. Hall is pretty good at times but very overrated. His temper also gets the best of him.

He seems very good to me. Granted I don't watch him play every week, but I follow what goes on in the NFL pretty closely. The Giants play a very aggressive scheme with their corners, and they usually bring safety help over the the top. That allows corners to gamble, and that's what Hall is good at. He certainly has the physical tools to be great, and I think he would fit the Giants defensive scheme well.

Yes, I remember. He hated the coach, they never got along.

I don't think Hall is that bad a guy, he just really hated Petrino (and his instincts were right).

He is a gambler so his mistakes usually turn into big plays, but he's certainly above average in talent and I think he can be a very good player just about anywhere.

It's a moot point. The Falcons are shopping him around, and some team will be willing to outbid the Giants for his services. While he is very good, I would never give up a number one pick for him. I'd rather the Super Bowl Champion Giants do their homework, like last year, and pluck some gems from college.
I might consider him for a second round pick. Better still, the Falcons released Crumpler and need a TE. Let's dump Shockey on the Falcons in exchange for Hall. Two malcontents swapping locations. Might work, little downside.

31st pick in the draft is not really a number 1.

Hall is definitely overrated and is a headcase who is in love with himself. With that said, he'll probably be better than the player picked at 31, but who knows.

If Hall can play to his potential, this will be big for the Giants but I still wonder if they're going to be one of those one year wonders. Can Eli maintain that high level of play? IF he can, watch out but if you look at his whole body of work, I have some reservations. Giants D isn't the problem, its their offense.

Maybe the coaches are part to blame? What kind of defense do the Falcons normally run?

Falcons defense were a 4-3 scheme. Under Donatell he would play off the line a lot . Donatell was always scared of being burned deep. This past season you had more press coverage. He ways always lined up against the #1 WR week in & out. He had some good games & I was a fan of his up until recently. His bad attributes (quick temper) is why I would rather have picks than Hall, I think he can be a real cancer in the locker room.

He was a headache before Petrino too though.

I agree. Good riddance to DHall. He single handedly caused the Falcons to lose at least one game last season. 85 yds in penalties for one person? C'mon!

For the sake of argument, if the Giants are picking #31, why not draft a CB? The contract demands wont be as high and you can screen for a character guy. This draft is very deep at that position.

Hall's a good corner, but he's potentially a headcase and will probably want some money to shut up. On the other hand, Sam Madison's really old and can't cover anyone anymore (good '07, but maybe a blip there) and needs to be replaced.

Just stirring discussion. I'm an Eagles fan and I'd be happy if we chased him too, but with the same concerns as above.

Howbout this to a Giants fan, with the rumors of Lito Sheppard being available, what would you trade for him?

NO WAY he's worth a first rounder. if they give that up, theyll be picking at 62...basically giving up this years draft.

As a Giants fan, I don't want him I want more team oriented guys. If anything they need a shut down safety.

As a fan in general, fans (with a good head on their shoulders) that watch their team daily probably pick up on tendencies the average fan won't.

A real winning team may be able to change his attitude, he is most def worth the first round pick IMO. When hes on, he can shut down a lot of people, or get you a few turnovers

LOL...you're a moron.

Yes, two of the bigger contributors on this year's Giants team came from the early rounds (S. Smith, and A. Ross), but value can be attained in the lower rounds. Just look at their draft from last year:

1 20 20 Aaron Ross - Bio | Video CB Texas

2 19 51 Steve Smith - Bio | Video WR USC

3 18 81 Jay Alford - Bio DT Penn State - Filled in well at long snapper, showed some potential at DT (sack on Brady)

4 17 116 Zak DeOssie - Bio | Video LB Brown - Excellent Special teamer,
a little undersized, but has potential to be a good backup or spot starter.

5 16 153 Kevin Boss TE Western Oregon - Filled in wonderfully after Shock went down in week 15; many consider him the TE of the future.

6 15 189 Adam Koets T Oregon State - Unknown commodity.

7 14 224 Michael Johnson S Arizona - Great speed, excellent hitter - filled in well when G. Wilson and J. Butler went down at mid season.

7 40 250 Ahmad Bradshaw RB Marshall - We all saw what he did starting Dec. 23 in Buffalo.

So, as you can see, the draft is not "over" just because they won't pick until the end of the second round. The Giants can afford to give up their first pick to get someone like D. Hall.
