Once you get the .50 cal/anti-material, it becomes a bit of a joke. Regular ammo can take one out in a single shot. If that doesn't work, break out the riot shotgun pre-loaded with slugs.

You must have a 200 score in your big guns or something cuz I could never whack a deathclaw with one body shot of anything, except maybe one of the unique energy weapons like Pew Pew.

Or did you mean head shot? Cuz for head shots a lot of weapons will stop a deathclaw in one hit.

I've taken a head shot to Deathclaws with a hunting rifle, scope mod, and standard .308 ammunition. Was loaded to the gills with chems though. :p

Any graphic enhancement mods that people are running?

Headshot and critical (pretty easy to get since you can easilly score a sneak critical with the anti-material); non-criticals did them in about half way.

I nuked a mother deathclaw from orbit and that barely chipped away an eight of its health, so they are definately badass.

Mother deathclaw? Never encountered one of those. Where did you find it? And how tough are they in relation to the Alpha Deathclaws?

You pick up the quest north of Sloan to clear the quarry,I would say only slightly tougher then Alpha Deathclaws, personally I use sniper rifle in hidden mode from a good distance away(have plenty of ammo).

Also dont forget that if you dont take the Wild Wasteland trait, you can find a unique gauss rifle on that northern cliff.
If you do take Wild Wasteland, that rifle is replaced with the alien pistol, and its also very powerful. BUT, ammo is limited to what you find up there and no more. Ever.

Yup. That unique gauss is badass... and the alien pistol isn't worth the shortage of ammo.

Good tip is to climb up one of the ramps that (would) move rocks/dirt to the processing buildings/equipment. Need to take out 2-3 of the smaller/normal deathclaws before you can reach one of them to climb. Up there, crouched down with a good sniper rifle/scoped laser, you can easily kill all the other deathclaws in the quarry. I actually really liked that mission. Died once getting in there (wasn't paying attention and a deathclaw came at me from behind).

I took the explorer perk so going to all the places I missed, almost at level 31 now(installed the level 100 mod) so I still got plenty of playing hours left in this game.

The gauss rifle is awesome.

Does the game still crash a lot in Vegas?

As already mentioned throughout the thread: It depends.

Fallout 3 crashed constantly on my system even with all the fixes on Tweakguides.
New Vegas crashed rarely and I didnt use any tweaks.

Yea. New Vegas crashed maybe 5 times in 60 hours.

Fallout 3, though, has crashed 18 times for me in 26 hours of play (playing through it now). It's such a massive pain in the ass, but because I'm already this far in, I'm not going to give up.

Thats actually about my ratio. Maybe 4 times in 48 hours, tops. First one didnt happen until 18 hours and I had a ton of stuff in my Inventory. And when I say ton, I mean a max weight of 50,000 pounds and at least 5000 pounds worth of loot.
Fuck the weight system!

Anybody else having problems with NV randomly minimizing itself? This is the only thing I'm seeing (aside from a complete freeze about a half hour ago requiring a power-off reboot).

I'm gonna look at adding a few of these mods. I played Fallout3 with absolutely no mods the very first time around, then I threw so many mods at it, I had like 100 files in the /data folder. Gonna tone it down a bit this time around and only use a few mods.

I have found with both games its not so much the number of mods, as one or two particular mods that routinely cause problems.

As an example in F3 I found (through lots of trial and error) the only mods giving me issues were the ones that unlock feats at any level. I have never figured out why. But aside from those I am able to run all the official DLC and a buttload of UI enhancers, texture and model replacers, and scripts that run constantly like the ones I use to auto-refill first aid & ammo boxes. Also dont have problems with most additional objects. I've added whole buildings, new parts to buildings, quests to get new items, never had an issue.

I think the best thing is to only add mods one at a time, and when you encounter problems you know which one to take out. If you've got a hundred of them running, can I assume most were added in groups of a dozen at a time?

Well, I never had any problems with Fallout3 at all. It never crashed once for me that I can remember - I even used to leave it running minimized a lot of times, just alt-tabbing back to it.

Fallout NV has crashed once (added a texture pack that I guess it didn't like, the weapon texture mod linked in this thread), and has minimized itself several times, and froze the whole PC once, but that's it.

GODDAMMIT!
I hate New Vegas. Why the hell did I start another game?

Now its all about the Legion. Avoiding the NCR and all the other do-gooders. Added some new mods to improve texture and mesh detail, fix up the UI, and unlock levels up to 100, and skills up to 255. Game should move along quite well.

Alright, it seems that siding with the Legion cuts down on game time considerably. You cant go too far into the NCR quests without pissing of Caesar permanently, and many of the games side quests were NCR based. They were also much longer and deeper than the average Legion quest.
I only played for 6 hours and already I killed Mr House and wiped out Nellis Air Base. Only got 3 companions though, but I did get a brain for Rex. Turns out you can fight Lupus in the Arena and steal his brain without angering the Legion.
