As is true with most things in life, the Germans are already advanced well beyond everyone else in defending us against Godzillas from the sea and doom robots from the future. A massive steel leviathan with blades covered in gore, the Bagger 288 is there to safeguard all mankind.

The new power ranger with better graphics?
Zordon's dead though, so he can't just be called out of retirement. I don't know who's in charge of that group now.

I guess the Rangers secured lots new funding after 9/11 to be able to afford good CGI monsters and robots.

I'm looking forward to Pacific Rim. I like the idea of huge robots fighting aliens and I was the guy who liked Robot Jox .

I remember that movie that starred the lead human character from Alien Nation the TV show. Good concept but poorly executed. Although i was a kid at the time so i still liked it.

I see one review on metacritic stating Pacific Rim is a summer popcorn movie but Del Toro makes it one of better action movies.

Added: Here is a quote from the positive review on film.com

It is one of the better dumbass sci-fi action movies to come down the pike in quite some time.

If I get Transformers vs Cloverfield complete with total chaos and explosions I'm walking away happy. G. Del Torro is a fun guy. I've like all of his other stuff. It's not going to make a critic or the Academy Awards happy, and that's fine. He has fun with his movies and that carries over in the film.

Just watched Robot Jox on Youtube last night in preparation for this movie. Looks like its receiving good reviews on Rotten Tomatoes. The 13 year old me hasn't been this excited for a movie since Jurassic Park.
