rgggg you call that a centipede....you should see some of the ones we get in Australia, it's not uncommon to see them here with lengths over 20cm's....damn nasty ones too

The one in the video was ~24cm. He measured it about 1/2 way through.

Man, you know that's harsh, but I did a report on mantids back in junior high school and remember reading about how large mantids sometimes attack small birds and mice. The centipede has poison.........mantids just eat their prey live.....I know because I had one for the report and it would just grab crickets and start chewing off their limbs or head or whatever was closest to it's jaws.

I remember watching on eat a cricket on my back steps when I was a kid. It ate the head off while the back legs were kicking trying to get away. I don't think it stopped moving until it got part way through the thorax.

Well, I checked on google to find documentation about what I recalled about mantids eating mice and birds so I'd know if I was remembering right. And I freaking found some sick ass video of a mantis taking on a live adult mouse. No I'm not gonna link to it because you do not want to see that sh!t in a million years. Maybe there's some kind of appreciation for the diversity or savagery of nature to be found in that experiment, but I got about 10 seconds in when it became clear what was gonna happen and I was out of there.

Just googled and found the video you discussed. I watched the whole thing. To be honest the centipedes were more distrubing. The guy in mantis/mouse video was too busy jerking off over the mouse getting killed to bother keeping the camera steady. You hardly see anything in my opinion.

As usual on a Friday, the office is a little slow. I passed this video around to a few people and I am really impressed that they weren't all girly about it and were more amazed that a centipede could eat a mouse than anything else.

EDIT: I want to qualify my 'they weren't all girly' comment. My office is 90% female, in their late 20's to early 40's. I think they handled it pretty well, JLGatsby be damned.

Mantis mouse eating

It's not that amazing. The guy put them in a small jar, so the mouse really had no chance.

what the hell, after reading everyones post i tought it was actually EATING the mouse, say like snakes, shoving it down its throat, but its not impressive at all... i mean the size of thing is $#%"#$ but the video itself is not... guess i just cant stand cockroaches... that gives me the creeps

Man see'ing videos and centipedes that large.. I'm just happy I live in the city cause I can only deal with nature in small doses..

But that Centipede is too much for me..
