I asked gigabyte when they plan to release a bios to fully support my 3770k processor.

Gigabytes responce.

Answer : Unfortunately it cannot be fixed due to the bios limitation as this board does not support UEFI compared to the Z77 chipset board.


So if your like me and you bought a gigabyte board for PCI e 3.0 well tough cookies....
 
So its the fault of Gigabyte, not you, that you bought a non Gen 3 board? Or is it?

Is this your board? Weird, it says to support 3.0, an Ivy processor needs to be installed. I'd be pretty mad.

how unfortunate. but what does it mean by "fully support"? does it work at all? Or does just PCIE 3 not work?

If they advertised that pcie 3 should work, then by all means it should work. Try contacting another Representative, and if that doesn't work, what state are you in? If need be you could file a complaint with your better business bureau or something.

What sort of 'problems , too many problems' exactly that makes Gigabyte a no-go for you?
 
I built a rig back in January with the Z68UD3 and its been just fine. All the manufacturers make some good mobos and they all make some bad mobos. You really have to shop by model. Research it carefully. Can't just go by it being a Gigabyte or, ASUS, or MSI, etc., Just my opinion.

Agreed. When I jumped ship from AMD to Intel around when Wolfdale came out, I picked up a Gigabyte P35 DS3. Worked well.

Got a P55 DS3R for the wife to go with an i5 750, and it had nothing but memory compatability and other issues that I had to work around to get things going.

My friend got a P67 UD3R with an i5 2500 and that board had bad memory compatability issues as well.

Another friend, same deal. It's why I jumped ship to Asrock, and so far, no regrets.

Hi Guys,

This is Colin from GIGABYTE. We are busily coding new UEFI BIOSes that will fully support as we speak.

First ones in the pipe are are for the Z68X-UD3H-B3 and Z68AP-D3. We are testing those right now and if all is ok we will release to public this week. For other boards such as Sniper 2, we will release as completed, but I have already requested Sniper 2 as next priority.

Haven't had any issues with the Z77 UD5H board, it been rock solid stable and very easy to OC, so I would not say all gigabyte boards are bad. From all the research I did, every single mobo manufacturer has some issues of some sort, it on a case by case basis

I thought the bios chips were the issue of why it can't have a UEFI bios? I take it that it might be a basic and not a graphical UEFI?

Well I have a low cost gigabyte board running a i5 2500t the board is;

GA-H77M-D3H

It works pretty much perfectly for a low watt htpc.with okay gaming if wanted.
Now my i5-2500T is not for overclocking if I try to oc a I5 2500k maybe the board is junk.
 
Despite the boot loop issues with Gigabyte mbs (also affects other brands) I still prefer Gigabyte to MSI because of MSI's recent troubles with VRMs.

Since the memory size of the BIOS chip is smaller, the new BIOS will only feature advanced mode, not the graphical 3D mode.

Haha...I lost my login info for my other account here, which some of you may remember from the good old 680i days.

I really do work at GIGABYTE though, and you can see me in one of my many annoying GIGABYTE videos on youtube.
