Ghosting to different chipsets?

Entity

Lifer
I've got a machine with an Intel 845 chipset that I'm trying to figure out how to image to a series of different chipsets -- Intel 815, 810, VIA, and even a SIS chipset. I tried running sysprep beforehand, but the imaged machines still crash on boot after being imaged; does anyone have any ideas for what I can do?

thanks 😀

Every time I which chipsets, I Ghost the image of my primary drive to a another, install it to the new system, and then boot to the CDROM with the WinXP cd in it, and select the repair function. It's worked for me from an 815 to a 845, and from a 845 to an SIS based chipset. Although I did read somewhere that sysprep is supposed to tidy things up before switching motherboards, I've never used it. I'm sure my method is not the cleanest, but it has worked for me.
