Ghosting on Hitachi CM772 - warranty claim?

My 19" Hitachi CM772 has developed some ghosting along the edges of windows. I haven't seen something like this in years and I'm wondering if it would be suitable for a warranty claim? If not, how can this be corrected? I don't have the warranty card handy any longer, but I know that it goes for 5 years.

What do you mean exactly by ghosting? Latency in the screen going from light to dark when some action is happening, or the static transistion from a dark to light color?

If it's the static dark to light, then I have the same issue with my Hitatchi 21". I assume it's just a trade off for the brightness and other attributes of the monitor construction. I suppose if we hear from someone without this problem, we can tell if it is indeed normal or otherwise.

This is on stationary windows, only really noticeable under lighter colors though. On the left edge of the monitor or on the left edge of a window the color tends to bleed over a lot. This is similar to the ghosting you may see on a TV with very poor reception. You'll see the image, and right next to it a faint outline/ghost. My 17" Hitachi 641 has none of these issues.

Is ghosting like when you put a white box on a black background, and the white bleeds sort of?

Just wondering, my monitor sort of does this (Viewsonic PF790, Aperture Grille)

Okay, I see. I'd say it's a problem and you should atleast ask Hitachi about it. They have a tech email on their site. Hope you get it resolved.

Problem solved... I was using a monitor extension cord on this monitor and that caused the problem... are all cords of apparent low quality or are there some that don't cause this problem? It is a bit on the thin side.

A better quality cable will definitely help; however a good monitor extension cable will also set you back ~$50 🙁
