ghosting issue

I thought ghosting was a non issue. Anyway I got an acer tn monitor (yeah I know cheap tn) with a 2ms rating and in games it gets a tad on the blurry side when I move fast especially when turning (bioshock 2 is my worst offender right now). When I run the pixel persistence program I do see that fast motion is blurry on my monitor.
I am thinking of returning this. Is it possible to get a monitor that doesn't have an issue with the blur?
 
Ghosting is often caused by post-processing in the monitor. Does it have a "game mode"? Look around in the OSD and see if you can turn any post-processing effects off, it may help.
 
I have no such post processing effects. I am in user define mode. I ran the readability test on pixperan and it starts getting blurry at 3 or 4 and by 8 is totally unreadable.

Perhaps what you're seeing is the poorer motion resolution of LCDs. It's not the same thing as ghosting, nor is it related to the response time. It's something that doesn't get measured or rated so you don't know if one panel is better than the other just by looking at specs.

I think some monitors are worse than others, but perhaps you're just more sensitive to it. I think plasmas are generally better in this reguard.

Just because it says 2ms, doesn't mean it does that. Well, technically it does, but different companies measure different ways (IE: Gray to Gray instead of Gray to White/Black, etc). There isn't a standard on measuring response rate. You may already know that. In short, go get yourself a different monitor.
 
even if it wasn't 2 I would have expected at least 5. My worry is that I will get another monitor and it will be the same or worse. This one outside of it's insanely over bright brightness is good in almost every other way.

I found the 2 games that bothered me most are blurry even on that, so it must be motion blur built into the game or my video card can't hack it. However there is definintely MORE blur on my monitor. Further games like CS:S there is some blur when moving fast on things light lights and stuff. So I am wondering if I get a diff monitor will I get better results?

Depends what you get. I've got a 22" LG and get minimal blurring. I hardly even notice it at all, except for a little bit when playing FPS and there's something moving in front of a light/bright colored background. Like I said, try out a different monitor. You asked for suggestions. That's probably the best one.
 
might be wrong on this but I'm pretty sure a 2ms rating just means that it is the lowest response time the monitor can achieve. there can be instances where the response time is > 2 ms.

Depends what colors they want to use as their rating. They'll use their best obviously. Company A will advertise 2ms but fail to tell you that they measured response time of pixel color change between Gray to White (but Gray to Gray is 7ms). Company B will advertise as 2ms but they fail to tell you that they used Gray to Gray (but Gray to White is 5ms).
 
This is suppose to be 2 ms gray to gray.

2ms gray to gray is cool, but it maybe much higher when measuring other color change response times. Unless you've looked up benchmarks (if there even are any available on the net) on your monitor, as far as you know, your Gray to White (just for example) could be 12ms or higher.
 
Well I went to frys. and looked at more monitors. I played games on some of them and found that they all exhibit what I am seeing to varying degrees. The asus that was also 2ms was just as bad as this acer, the viewsonic was way worse and the lg was slightly better. I asked the store guy and he said that was just one of the issues with lcd technology. The reason I didn't notice is before was my 19" was much smaller and so the details were easily lost not only in size, but also in it's overly dark image.
 
you're using a DVI connection right? VGA connections are'nt as stable for LCD monitors and these issues can occur. U simply wont find anything faster than 2ms as far as i've seen or heard.
