Yeah, it seems they started manufacturing the duds around November and stopped production altogether in January. I guess if you need to carry it around then the LCD is a logical choice. My monitor just sits on a large desk at all times, so I don't mind the size or weight.

The tool needed is just a phillips screwdriver with a long shank; I happened to have one lying around, but you can probably get one at Sears or Home Depot for a dollar or two. Although I can definitely relate to your frustration with getting a bad one more than once.

I really want to know on how to adjust the focus inside the monitor. Do I have to take the case off and work on it inside?

There's a hole/port on the side that lets you access it (I guess none of my screwdrivers were long enough 😛)

well, my screwdrivers are too big. 🙁

Yeah, mine were either too wide, or not long enough. In any case, if you want to go the CRT route, be aware that (as another poster pointed out), NEC actually stopped producing these a while back, and it's been said that QA has really gone down in those last months of production (which I could tell from my experience). It's kind of a shame too because they were arguably the last good high-end CRT maker (without exorbitant >$1000 prices).
