Need your help guys as this is getting me down :(

Ive got a SCSI HD with an XP install on an Adaptec 19160 as my current HD and am trying to image the whole drive over to a newly created Promise Fastrak (onboard GA8IRXP) raid1 array which has been created and selected as bootable.
Problem is i cant get Ghost to see the Promise array? Im using Ghost CE 7.5.
Ive got the array visible in XP when using the SCSI XP install but i want it on the IDE array, grrr :(
Ive done this before no probs, but never with a promise - is it compatible with ghost?
Also, is there any way to disable the bios on the Adaptec? as once i manage to do this its not going to be used as bootable so need for the bios to run at bootup :) Ive looked in the manual but theres nothing related in there.

Any help be gratefully appreciated.

thanx

Ghost to the IDE controller first, then move it to the first position of the RAID controller on the next bootup. Next, build your image from the first drive.

thanx for the tip Madrat :)

I saw that option in the Fastrak bios but was unsure what it was all about and the manual from Gigabyte aint no help before someone says RTFM :D
So i ghost over from SCSI to IDE 1, yeah. Then pop this drive on the raid IDE port along with the one that is going to mirror it. This is the bit where i can see me losing all my data as i cannot just select create raid1 (mirror) as it will wipe the drive, yeah? and prevent me from mirroring it?
I am thinking i would need 3 IDE HD's to do this maybe? but i only have access to two right now along with the SCSI :(

Thanx madrat - i did as you said and used the Wizard to do the raid 1 and it prompted me if i wanted to use one of the drives for duplicating
Just hope this is going to be a good relationship between me and my promise raid :/

Curious though why the monitoring software has this option to check raid synchronisation! ??? Isnt raid 1 sysnc'ed all the time like it is with my 3Ware 6200?

I'm only familiar with SCSI mirrors, not IDE RAID. I figured building the mirror would be done the same way, though. :)

I used to have an AMI Megaraid Express 200 i got off @bay a long time ago and it never could do that IIRC.
Another notch on the learning curve i guess - thanx :)

You dont know how i can disable my SCSI cards bios do you? (Adaptec 19160)
