umm u cant ghost c:\ drive i guess unless u trying to ghost it from your grant then u can make all folders hidden or something, if u trying to ghost them from e.g. cop's DriveCrypt can format your partition and create container there, it wont be seen untill u correct enter password and it be encrypted as well. But you cant do it with C:\ because its bootable drive.

Not free - but only $18 for Terabyte 'Image for DOS'.

For $10 more, Terabyte 'Image for Windows' and 'Image for DOS' combo.

Inexpensive and absolutely reliable image/restore software.

Hope this helps!

Thanks guys will check it out...one person mentioned in another forum (forgot where i read it), that's it's probably safer to go with a software company with some sort of reputation (assuming for reliability reasons).
So I'm tempted to either go with Norton or Acronis Image I guess.
Anyone use any of the 2?

Another (free) alternative if you use XP pro is to use the backup utility. It apparently let's you backup the entire drive and create a bootup floppy that you can use later for restoring the backup. I have not used it though. I use Drive image, which was made by PowerQuest, which was taken over by Symantec.

I tried it. It looks like it only runs in Windows! One of the important benefits of Drive Image (from PowerQuest) is that you can restore an image even if your Windows installation is completely hosed. You can still boot to DOS and restore the image. I don't think one can do that with this program (DriveImage XML). I'll stick with my Drive Image.

But it seems there is a plugin for BARTpe, meaning you can boot off a cd without windows loaded to your harddrive:
http://www.runtime.org/peb.htm
I would assume that this would allow you to both backup and restore from the bootable disc (if hd image is backed up to dvdrs, i suppose you'd need two dvd drives)

You are absolutely correct. Thanks for the catch. I will consider this an alternative to my Drive Image.
I store my images to another hard drive. BartPE should be fine for that.

He's trying to make a backup of his hard drive hence the reference to ghosting.

Well, if you use Norton Ghost and you know what "lol" means, it seems you should know enough computer slang to know what it means to ghost a drive, no?;)

Illegal use or the implication thereof "if you know what i mean :)))" is deserving of some deep thought.

Take a few days off to figure out what this means in Mod English
