The long-fabled third entry in the Ghostbusters franchise will be arriving in the form of a video game for PC, PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Wii.
Writing duties for the title are being handled by Harold Ramis, Dan Aykroyd, and Bill Murray. All three starred in the first two films, which were written by Ramis and Aykroyd. The trio will also lend their voices to the game, which is currently being developed by an unknown studio. The project was unveiled through Game Informer's teasings of its next issue.
Slovenia-based developer ZootFly is a likely candidate for the game's developer. Earlier this year, the company leaked a number of prototype movies from an unlicensed Ghostbusters game that was in the works for Xbox 360.
Many consider ZootFly's release of the videos to be a publicity stunt, supposedly meant to garner interest in the studio and prove to publishers and license holders that there was demand for a Ghostbusters game. Following the videos appearance on the internet, ZootFly announced that licensing problems had caused them to put the title on hold.
"Due to licensing issues, further development of the Ghostbusters game hit a bump on the road, but everybody here at ZootFly is working actively on resolving the challenges with the owners of the Ghostbusters IP," the company posted on its official page at the time.
