Ghost In The Shell Question

I read the original manga as it came out and loved it, though I hated the censorship in the American release. I watched the first movie and hated it. The look, the butchered script, et cetera. I never bothered with Stand Alone Complex until now, since I could watch it on my computer via Netflix.

I loved S.A.C. Season 1, and Season 2 was decent but I didn't like it as well. Where do the other two movies fit in, though? The descriptions I have been reading don't make it very clear.

Do Ghost In The Shell: Innocence and Ghost In The Shell: Solid State Society both take place in the "alternate universe" of S.A.C., or are they split between the universes of the original movie and S.A.C.? If both take place in the universe of S.A.C., what order do they take place in?

I don't know about Innocence, but SSS is definitely S.A.C. related.

S.A.C. #1 and #2 were great, but like you said #1 was better.

Pretty sure Spartan is right. Innocence takes place in the original universe, and SSS is in the SAC universe.

Just confirmed by looking it up on AniDB.
