Columbia Pictures clearly wants to make "Ghostbusters 3," since fans started craving a new film ever since the new 'GB3' video game got going and attracted Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis and Ernie Hudson to voice the characters.
We've been hearing about the third installment for many months, but nothing concrete. Now, Ramis has revealed to Heeb magazine that "Ghostbusters 3" will begin filming during the summer and will hit theaters in 2011.
"Something's going to happen," he said. "Dan [Aykroyd] did write a spec GB3 screenplay a few years ago, but no one was motivated to pursue it. Now, 25 years after the original, there seems to be some willingness to proceed and apparently a substantial public appetite for a sequel. We'll introduce some new young Ghostbusters, and all the old guys will be in it, too. Think Christopher Lloyd in Back to the Future ... GB3 is progressing with plans to shoot next summer and release in 2011."
I'm not sure what that Christopher Lloyd hint is supposed to mean. If someone can figure it out, let me know.
