My brother wanted his 27GB HD upgraded to an 80GB one. The 27GB is partitioned into two parts. Programs and Data. He wanted the 80gb drive to be one big partition and contain all the data on the 27gb. The 27gb contains winxp (fat32)

Here was my solution.

ghost programs partition to drive.
boot with new hard drive
manually copy data files into new drives through windows exploerer.

After I ghosted the new hard drive, the computer would not boot. It kept saying "press any key to reboot" and then restarted. I made sure there was no floppy in the drive and the BIOS was set on the new drive to boot up. Still no go. I checked the files on the new drives and they are ghosted. Tried booting with only the new drive and still no go. Do I need to fdisk /mbr it? At first I thought ghost 2002 doesn't work with xp, but I remembered I used it on my own computer a long time ago and it worked.

Any ideas?

it's XP's fault. with just the new drive, take a win98se boot disk and do a fdisk /mbr. worked for me and i was using ghost 2003
