The guy was weak. A bunch of douchebags complain, and he caves. I doubt I'd use it, but it served a valuable role. A lot of times I travel cheap, and that includes a lot of walking. There's places I Do Not want to walk, and a website telling me those places would be useful.

How will I know where to do my drug shopping now?

Drew Berrymore, Lindsay Lohan, David Hasselhoff, Robert Downy Jr, Farrah Faucet, Macaulay Culkin, Johnny Depp, Kristen Dunst.

But if you want the REALLY good shit you'll have to talk to Heath Ledger.

Gawker is just such a horrible website that somehow manages to have less journalistic integrity than the National Inquirer, TMZ, and Parez Hilton combined.
:D

I think it's a good idea. Lets be honest here that most cities have a place you just don't go. Especially if your an out-of-towner. Toronto has Jane & Finch, LA has South Central, Detroit has, well, Detroit. I think we all want to be safe when we travel to an unfamiliar destination.

Of course Gawker has to pull the race card. I'll be the one to call a spade a spade and say that a lot of these bad parts of town do have a lot in common. Lets just say I'd feel safe walking through any China Town but not 8 Mile. Then I question the liberals what they're doing to fix it. Silence. There, quit crying. If you're not part of the solution...

It's pretty easy here in CT.

Just about any major city = ghetto with VERY few decent areas that I still wouldn't want to live in. Even if you do live in a good area your kids still end up in shitty public schools.

I have a feeling this applies to just about any state.

Moral of the story, stay away from cities hehe

Without knowing how the site was setup, you can have a good city experience go very wrong within a couple blocks. There's places in Baltimore I'd happily walk within slingshot distance of places I wouldn't walk without a rifle. It would be nice to see those places marked so people can avoid them.

I don't think there would have been a problem with the site, if the people making the claims had to show articles referring to crimes or such. Or even link to statistical data. I was constantly on statistical sites when I was buying a house to check things like that. If this site brought all that together, with user experience, it would have helped me out a bit.

I was in Northern California last weekend for a wedding. My friend took us to a Thai Buddhist temple in Berkeley (really good thai food btw). My wife decides to wear her Louis Vuitton bag and it turns out Berkeley is really ghetto.

If I only knew, I would have told the wifey to leave the bag and I wouldn't have worn my Rolex.

Actually it was so ghetto that I probably would have asked to go to a restaurant instead

Damn, I was hoping to use it to tell me what part of New Orleans to avoid (Other than all of it). Sadly that's not an option as my wife really wants to go there for a marathon.

I was there for a convention many years ago, it's pretty ghetto. Bourbon street is fun, but you have to walk through alot of ghetto to get there from the hotel

You were near Martin Luther King, weren't you? What do you know about the neighborhood if a street named after MLK is there? That situation is your own fault and you didn't need ghetto tracker software. :colbert:

Actually, if you were at the temple I'm thinking of, that is so not ghetto. You're just a pussy.

I think this applies to any city.

If you are few blocks away from wrong town of town....it's probably too close for most people's comfort.

That's kind of what I'm saying. I guess I'm approaching it from a visitor's perspective more than looking for a place to live. There's a lot of places I'm completely comfortable visiting, but there's no way in hell I'd live there. I'd like to know if I can walk from location A to location B without crossing a war zone.

I booked us a hotel 3 blocks from Bourbon St, so hopefully we won't get mugged.

In the Ghettoooo
On a cold and gray Chicago mornin'
Another little baby child is born
In the ghettoooo
(In the ghetto)
And his mama cries
Because if there's one thing that she don't need
It's another little hungry mouth to feed
In the ghettooooo
(In the ghetto)
