Ghetto cooling

Got bored and kept reading reviews with Corsair H70 with push/pull fans. So been wanting to add an extra fan to my cheap Xigatek HDT 1283. Dropped my Win7 idle temps from 30C to 23C. Load even more! I just added a fan I stole out of my currently unused Lian Li case. Since the heatsink does not have any extra mount rubbers for the other side I just ghetto'ed it. ZIP ties!

My wiring job is so messy right now my camera might start on fire if I take a pic tho ()🙂

My "ghetto" system:

I have more, but most of my really GOOD ones I didn't have a digicam. I had an old PII that I strapped a VGA cooler to using machinists wire around the casing of the PII itself.

Love the cardboard! The sign of a true 'ghetto mod' is cardoard, or in your case, a case 😛

I wired a 200mm fan to my passove coolers the other day using green twist ties from my garbage bag box, dropped temps 8c on the cpu idle, just a hair above ambient, load never touches 30c anymore.

Love the zip ties Dice 🙂

Oh, that's just the only one I have uploaded. I have MUCH MUCH better ones from the old days if I can find them. :awe:

Blocks of solid copper used at heatsinks to test CPUs on short term tests, homemade waterblocks, lots of cardboard for various cases + ducting and loads of zip ties, rubber bands + duct tape!!

i have so much cardboard and duct tape inside my cases to direct airflow (main HSF is ducted so that air travels the entire HSF, also the blowhole is ducted to act as an intake) and then more cardboard taped to my desk to make sure the air leaves out the back rather than accumulating around my knees (gets uncomfortable, and the computer isn't breathing its own hot air now)

Guess I need to bring out the cardboard to be more ghetto. If I use an old pizza box that count?
i use beer case boxes for inside. the cardboard is thin so doesn't take up much space and i willingly buy more of it a couple times a month.

Fire Hazard? D:

Eh, you think that's ghetto ?
I'll show you my 200mm CPU fan cooler with 200mm -> 120mm cereal box cardboard adapter -> Zerotherm FZ-120 metalblock

Also, this failbuild cools much better and it makes 0 noise (of course its a 200mm fan from coolermaster)
