Apparently I have a XFX 6600GT. I want to stay with nvidia. I dont want to spend too much money. I have an opty 165 and 1 gb of ram. Going to upgrade the ram. Is the 8800 too much for my pc. I have the 20WMGX2 monitor so it has to have native resolution. HDCP is a must for me.

If you can afford the 8800, just go with it, a 8800GTS 320MB is pretty cheap and should go quite well with your monitor and no your system won't be limiting you so don't worry about it. I'm not sure if all 8800s have HDCP but I know some do you'll have to check that.

You could also get a 8600 or HD 2600 card but those are a BIG step down from a 8800 card and not quite suitable for 1680x1050.

so should I just go with the 320 mb version. Then I might just buy an extra 1 GB patriot ram stick.

Get the eVGA version (of the 320) :p

(This assumes your PSU can handle it)

As s44 suggested, you might want to post your PSU so we can figure out what your computer can handle. Your processor might be helpful too, so that we can know whether or not it will be completely bottlenecking a good card.

I would wait a couple months to buy though; G92 is coming out in November and AMD/ATI will also release a new card by then.

PCIE baby! Its a MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum. The chipset fan is placed in the worst possible place but could it fit a 8800GTS. 520W Corsair PSU. Used to have an antec unit that had problems.

Going to buy it soon so should I buy the 320 or the 640 MB. I mainly play sims2. Will it fit the K8N neo4 platinum since it has a terrible position of the chipset fan.

If you mainly play the sims 2 get a 8600gt or 7900gs.

I might have to install other games that are more graphic intensive so it might be worth it to buy a better card.

Get the 320. eVGA, in case you want to step up. You might do better buying a 8600GTS and saving the difference for a future purchase/step-up though.
