GFWL continues to be a PITA after its' demise

Recently decided to try and finish my GTA IV DLC and try Bulletstorm, both use GFWL. That service has long been gone now and was replaced with Games for Windows Marketplace, except that seems to be down as well.

Am I the only one experiencing this here(lots of Steam and other discussions about it, but no solution from what I have read)? If not, do you recall how you did it?

Using Win 8.1 and Steam, if they make a difference.

I have always viewed GFWL to be the biggest POS, in its' death it continues to prove it.

**I believe GTA became a steam game, see if you can enter the key in steam & add it to your library. The other game I have no suggestions.

In GTA IV you could skip the whole gfwl thing. It's been quite some years but I think you click create an account and then tell it you can't and to play offline and that is all.

You can also disable the GFWL overlay with xliveless.dll but this disables online play as well and messes with saves.

All my GFWL saves and achievements were lost as well when the games were transferred to steam's servers. A real pain.

GTA IV requires(or did) a GFWL Login to Autosave, Bulletstorm requires a GFWL Login to Register the game(I can't even play since Registration fails).
