I was browsing the Dell laptops and they have 32mb version of the gforce2 go

I saw over at Tomshardware he reviewed the 16mb g2GO on the Toshiba's and they performed fairly well. My question is, will the 32mb give a person more fps in today's games?

Does anyone have the 32mb version of the laptop and can give any benchmarks, that would be helpful.

Isn't the price differnce about $80 between the two cards? I don't remembr for sure. I'd go with the 32mb version if you plan on gaming a lot (like a desktop replacement laptop). Preformance should be along the lines of a GTS w/ 32mb, and mine plays every game out so far.

I didn't want to open a new thread so I'll just ask my other question here.

Is it possible to disable the gforce2go, when you need to use the laptop for a long duration? I know it uses up a lot of energy, but are there settings to reduce the energy consumption when you are not playing games?

You cannot disable it, it's your video card.. but I can assume that it takes less voltage when you are not gaming.. I think I remember it lasts an hour on one battery when you're playing a game (CS/Q3/UT etc high fps games) and 2.5 hours when it's idle on the desktop.

yeah its pretty weak on power consumption. You could set your lap top to turn off the monitor, disks, and go into sleep mode all the time. But even then it won't give more than an extra 20-30 minutes of battery time.

The dell is much better than the toshiba, not because it has twice the ram, but because the toshiba is using SDR, but the dell uses DDR.

MaximumPC has a review of both.

Toshiba is now using DDR for most of the models (but still only 16mb models.. ick!!!!!) :disgust:
