GF4 Ti4600 Decision: Visiontek vs. PNY?

Hey guys. I'm going to be picking up a GF4 Ti4600 from Electronics Boutique next week, and I was hoping people could help me decide between the two cards they carry.

First, let me say this. I have to buy the card at EB. I have several gift certificates, and some store credit, that are all going towards the purchase. It's turning the $400'ish purchase into something more like $100'ish. I don't have the luxury of picking a different manufacturer.

Here are the two cards:

Xtasy GeForce 4 Ti 4600 AGP, from Visiontek
...or...
Verto GeForce 4 Ti 4600 AGP, from PNY

From the stats I can see on EB's web site, they're identical. If there are any differences like RAM manufacturers or something, it's definitely not shown there.

My biggest fear is that I've never purchased a card from either of these manufacturers. I've always bought Creative stuff before, without any problems. Does anyone have any preference between these two companies? Any horror stories about one, or love stories about the other? If so, please share. I'd love to hear them.

I haven't heard anything bad about them. I know lots of folks have one or the other and I've not heard any complaints.

They are both very good companies, but I would probably pick the Visiontek over the PNy just because what I hear about performance and overclockability of the Visiontek.

I'd also go with the Visiontek, simply because they have been in the display adapter market longer than PNY has. I dought the two have any real difference's though.

My first geforce 3 card was Visiontek, and I loved it. My second geforce 3 Ti500 is a Visiontek, and I love it. So friday I will be buying the Visiontek Geforce 4 Ti4600. Very good company. Plus I heard something about the PNY's 2D performance sucked whatever that means. Maybe somebody can comment on that. So in case you didnt get it, get a Visiontek. Good Luck

PNY is actually an MSI OEM. MSI makes cards for many OEM's such as Creative Labs. The MSI OEM GF2 cards had very bad 2D. VisionTek made GF2 cards for Elsa, which was known for the best GF2 2D quality. I dont think the 2D issues apply to GF3 and GF4 cards. Is there any software bundle? VisionTek usually comes with zippo in that department.

I bought my first Visiontek card (GF3) and it serves me very well. I would probably buy from them again.

Reviews of recent Visiontek cards have lauded their 2D quality and color richness...go for the Visiontek

Thanks for all of the feedback guys. I already have my Visiontek reserved, and you're making me feel like I made the right choice. Or, at least I didn't make a horribly BAD choice.

Thanks again.
