I have an opportunity to get a GF3 for really low price. Before I was telling myself I would wait till the GF3 Ultra but for the price.... My dilemma is I have more video cards than brains, I have a GF2 GTS, GF2 MX w TV out and a Voodoo5500. Currently the Voodoo5500 and the GF2MX are in my PC.
Would it really be worth getting one or should I put my money away and do something worthwhile with it :)

If you can get it for a fair price, its worth it. How much did you find it for? :D From a mx ot v5 to a GF3, you'll notice a huge difference.

It's really depends on how satisfied you are with your current card. I mean there is no point in upgrading when you think that your machine is currently fast enough.

Price is approx $200 US, slightly less.

Multa - That's what I was thinking, out of all these new games I have and all the other crap, UT still get's the most playtime and the Voodoo5500 does it standing on it's head while sitting on the toilet with FSAA turned on.
But still, I'm thinking to the future and for games like Unreal2 it'd be nice. For the price I was thinking what the hell. But I dunno.

The reason why I didn't bother posting a price originally is because it's not available online, sorry pay. :) Plus it's not even available in the States. I'm in Australia and it's going to be about $400 AU, considering GF2 Ultras retail and $1000 here and GF3s at $1200 I figure it's a good deal :D

Hey which part of Australia are you from? I am from Melbourne got their address?? ^^ Guess the question that you've got to ask yourself is how much longer will you be playing UT? Will you move onto something more demanding anytime soon?

I mean I got a GeforceDDR and I am quite happy with it even up till now. Though I don't play games as often as I used to anymore. That's the performance level of your Geforce2MX.

Prices will only get cheaper but maybe that "deal" that you found might not last. I know that prices in Australia is WAY TOO HIGH!!!

Multa,
I'm in townsville, North Qld.
The most demanding game I play is Giants and I rarely play that anymore. I use the Geforce for that one cos it looks crap on the Voodoo. I will move on of course.... one day. This deal lasts until end of July, but it's a relative thing. I might post the details of it later.
Still for $400 I think I might just do it anyway. Can't get anything that remotely competes with that.

I went from a V5500 to a GF3, it will drop your jaw..

It is that much of a difference and 2d quality is just the same..

Any Game w/ every option MAXED OUT and it runs with out a stutter...

I second that! I expect my jaw to drop again when I see games that take advantage of DX8. :)
