Just wondering, how far can you push yours? I'm still going with my Gainward Golden Sample, got it up to 210core/472mem so far, will push for more in a few minutes :D

Running the so called "low end" Visiontek Ti200 @250/520 w/o problems. By the way WTF happened to the old Ti200 Overclocking thread?!:|

222/470 on a Leadtek GF3 Ti200 TDH.
Tried pushing it up to ti500 speeds and it locked up.

I know, why would this thread have been deleted? Makes absolutely no sense.

I've maxed my MSI card out at a 220 core and the ram is at 485 right now. What would be the limiting factor for a core? I know that memory speed is the main limit on the Ti 200 cards compared to others in the line.

KentState,

Keep in mind that overclocking your FSB will decrease the amount that you can overclock your vid card due to the fact that it will overclock your AGP as well.

OCduron,

I have the same setup really,

Athlon XP 1600 oc'd 145mhz FSB, would lowering the FSB back to 133 and overclocking the vid card further really have a performance increase?

arct,

Not really...you would lose performance. Since you are running @ 145MHz, your video card is actually at 187/212 without any overclocking, so you need to base your OC results based on that. But if you drop your FSB down, your RAM will go slower, thus reducing your overall performance.

I guess everyone took advantage of the Best Buy Deal for the VisionTek Xtasy Geforce 3 Ti200, heeh.
Still, $99 for a Geforce3 is niiice.

I tried 240/550 but my card flaked out after about 15 mins of 3dmark2k1

so, i backed it down to 238/521 and its fine. I think the core can be clocked up to probably 245 or so at least, but the memory needs to stay around 525 or so tops.

had gainward gf3 ti200, clocked it at 200/450... played some games and benchmarks everything was okay... returned to the desktop and start browsing anandtech, suddenly *boom* pixels all over and a hard lock :(
It seems like everyone can have their card higher than 480... is my card defective?? :(

akiraxtc, some people just get unlucky. i was lucky that i got a 4ns card, and you were unlucky that your gainward doesn't overclock well. try to take it back, if you have a warranty, and claim that it is defective. maybe you will get luckier with a second one. it's not defective if it will run at stock speeds with no problem, but if you have a warranty, or the place you bought it from has a good RMA policy, then you can probably get away with it, as busniesses usually don't check. i took 3 voodoo3 2000's back to Best Buy until i got one that would hit 200 :D. they don't care, as they just get a credit from the manufacturer. most busniesses are like that.

Yeah, I got one, but it was defective, when I went back, they wouldn't give me a raincheck or the like, they just accepted the return and credited my credit card. Best Buy won't be getting much of my business anymore.

Uh, they should give you another card to replace it, if they run out they have to at least give u store credit... that really sucks tho.. bad luck..

Doh! You shoulda waited til they had more in stock!!! All gifts purchased after Nov 2 or 3rd are considered "gifts", so the 30 day window doesn't apply. I think you woulda had like 2 weeks after X-mas to wait until they had it back in stock, so you coulda just done a merchandise exchange. :(

Anyways, I have mine at 240/510, not going any higher until I rearrange my fans.....temps are a lot hotter in my case compared to when I had my V5 in there.

Morning all,

I've got my VisionTek GeForce3 Ti200 up to the max that Nvidia's Slider allows ... 220/500, runs great. Though the ram heat sinks are toasty now. How toasty is too toasty? Any ideas or what temp a video card should be running at or what is too high for ram?

Thanks,

Dravin

Currently testing Gainward GF3 Ti200.
Awesome overclocking!
Using 3DMark 2001 as test.
So far 262 core and 561 memory runs test perfectly.
Epox KT133A, 1GHz T-Bird w/FSB at 148MHz x 9.5, scores 7349.

Well, It already has heatsinks on the mem chips but i'd suggest having a side fan blow perpendicular to the card to cool the heatsinks too. Either that or get a slot fan that will screw in and place it right next to your Vid card...

i have like 2 intake - 1 on front 1 on side, 3 exhausts, 1 on my top 5.25" Drive bay, PS has dual fans, and one next to my cpu. I usually put my hand in the the back or front of my computer and it blows cool. Occasionally i'll be running intensive 3d applications and my computer will feel a bit warm but it should definately not be too hot.

Your heatsinks should definately be cool enough so that you can touch it and leave your finger there without it "feeling too hot". If it is, you'll need a fan that will blow into it to dissipate the heat.....

Got the Visiontek TI-200 from the Best Buy deal on Friday. It is running smoothly @ 230/500 with stock cooling, not sure if I will take it much higher since it is the same speed as a TI-500 for just $99.00.

yah it looks like the people who actually braved the sale lines and didn't pre-buy/price match have one advantage, they got better OCing cards :p The possibility of buying old stock with 5ns RAM was probably pretty high.
