GF3 or Radeon 8500 what would you choose?

I have been playing Morrowind with my old GF2 MX 400, and it's running smoother than it did with the Radeon.....this is why I think a GF3 is for me. I don't uses AF or AA anyway, I just like smooth framerats.

Hey, don't get me wrong the Radeon 8500 Kicks some butt on games like UT2K3 (not a favorite of mine but very pretty), and I know it's a good card, I just hate the choppiness I see in some games.

I wasn't looking to get sold on either card, I just wanted opinions, and it seems I got them....

Well just for anyones info who is passingly interested, I tried TV-Out on an Nvidia card tonight and it was so bloody awful I have decided to keep my 8500......It may pause in some games, but I use the TV-Out for DVDs so I guess I'll just have to live with it til I can afford a better card.

For barely any more money you could pick up a cheap GF4 ti4200, and even the OEM versions of these cards absolutely fly. I've got a GF3 and the ti4200 that my friends got absolutely kills it.

This isn't about money and affording a GF4, if it was, then I'd get something like that. It was about a trade, my Radeon 8500LE for someone else's GeForce 3. Just now I have zero cash to sink into a card anyway, but as I said in my last post, I decided to keep the 8500 because the quality of the TV-Out kicks the crap out of any Nvidia card I have seen, and since I watch DVDs through the TV-Out of my vidcard, it makes a big difference. I will still have to suffer with some pauses in certain games I guess, but for the quality of the TV-Out I suppose it's worth it.

Radeon 8500 over the G3 any day. The Cat 3.1 (installed properly - just clean out the registry! ) are superb drivers on my Athlon XP platform. I do not get any stuttering in any games whatsoever. And as always, ATI's IQ is just awesome. See if you can find the regular version of the R8500 (275/275) Of course, all of this depends on how strapped you are for cash. The Ti4200 is a nice card..but eh. Get a Radeon 8500, even the LE, do a fresh install (although again, thoroughly deleting ATI stuff from your hd and reg should work fine), o/c it some and wait for the R350 and RV350 to filter to retail, then snag a nice cheap (er) R9700
