GF2 Ti overclock settings won't stick

I just did a fresh reformat and reinstall of Win98SE. It's been updated completely; running DX 8.1, and I'm using the 27.70 Detonators.

Problem: I enable overclocking via Coolbits, and I tick the box to make it apply the settings at startup, but when I reboot, the box is unticked, and the core/mem clocks are at default.
Any idea what is going on here??

Use Riva Tuner to overclock your card. Some of nVidia's leaked drivers don't handle overclocking too well.

I did try Rivatuner. And GeforceTweak.

If I use the "low-level" overclocking with Rivatuner, I get an mfc42.dll extension error on reboot. If I use the standard driver level option, it just reverts to the default clock settings at reboot.

YOu have to click the button to test the new settings first, then check the apply at startup checkbox. Shouild work after that.

Did already. It's weird though - in Rivatuner, I click test, then the option to restore the clockspeed at reboot, hit Save, then Apply. I then exit Rivatuner and immediately start it again - that box is unticked.

It's solved now I think. I tried to hack the BIOS of the card to overclock it; apparently Gainward cards don't like reference Bios's; reflashed it with a Gainward BIOS then, and reinstalled the drivers, and now the overclock settings are sticking. For now.

But if you are using a Gainward card, Doesn't it already have an OC'ing utility that came with it? Mine did and it works like a charm, easy as pie!
