GF2 MX400 vs. VOODOO 3

I HAD a Voodoo 3, wich didn't support Open GL, so I found a GF2 MX400 for $60 that did. Now, my basic games like Age of Empire and Star Wars Gallactic Battle SKIP- Did I downgrade or what? The thing is, my MOHAA works great. I don't see any problems with that game or even RTCW!@$&*@#!$!%! What the h....eck? Can anyone tell me if I made a mistake or how to fix my problem?

the mx400 should be an upgrade. r u using d3d or opengl to play those games that skip? btw, i used to play Counter-Strike with a voodoo3 2000 pci under opengl. it worked very well. i was using the wickedgl drivers tho. have u tried them?

No problems here playing those same games on a geforce 2 mx 400. In fact, the only game that does not work for some reason is midtown madness, but all other games run just fine. Check your drivers. You also might have some other conflict from installing the new card, what are your system specs?

Epox MoBo (its new- but forgot the model #)
60 Gig. IBM HD
GF2 MX400
Win. XP PRO

I just switched drives late last night- so im going to try it AGAIN tonight. The card was bought 2 weeks ago, could it be old drivers? If so, where can I find the BEST/ or newest drivers for that card?

Hey mellondust. you need to dl a patch so that midtown madness works under xp. I had problems in xp until I dl the patch. search at the microsoft site.

The lastest driver for your card is the Detonator 28.32, located here. Good luck!

Did you correctly remove all traces of your Voodoo3?
Do you have the latest chipset drivers and BIOS for your system?
Any overclocks?
Do you have the latest game patches?
Do you have the latest drivers for your video card (2832 official, 2890 beta)?

Thanks Pheran- Hopefully that will work. I started with a clean install on my HD, and I am thinking that cleared up MOST of my problems, but I am going to get the new drivers. - Don't I just install the latest drivers- or do I have to go to the paid and suffering of uninstalling the old and installing the new?.....
