GF stat problems

http://www.dcypher.net/whatsnew.shtml

Seems that the hard disk in their server died and that they may have lost blocks 🙁

Here's the quote :

<< Steve is back in Toronto and it looks like one of the harddisks in the server died. We are currently rebuilding the stats, as you are able to see if you check for your output. About two days worth of blocks are still in the proxies and wait to be flushed and counted.

There may be blocks lost, but it is too early to confirm or deny that suspicion, it will require for the stats to run fully through to see if anything is missing. If we lost blocks, we apologize. I had nearly 5,000 flushing during the timeframe that is critical, if that is any comfort.
>>

Thank god that viztech didn't flush the blocks in his proxy...

Ouch, nothing is worse than loosing work.🙁

Actually, we probably lost one or two days worth ourselves, that is BobberFett and I at least. I didn't turn it loose until last night at about 0200 GMT so we're better off than most at any rate.

Hopefully Steve can get everybody's work recovered.

... and I flushed about 30K and I'm a bitpissed but about computers and their failures. (not about the DC guys)

Doh, shouldn't the main server in these kind of projects be using some fault tolerance? You don't really want to piss off thousands of people that are doing you a favor.

Hope things turn out OK Magicman. 🙁

I'm not sure if this is related but....

I've been trying to connect to the Dcypher.net server to flush the blocks from my proxy for quite some time now and all I'm getting is "Error connecting to the server (10061)".

Does anyone know what could be causing this??

-Brian

10061 is something like "Server not found"

I have a hard time connecting myself. 1K blocks sitting in proxy because they come in faster then they are flushed.
The proxy connects every now and then but the connection times out afte ra few blocks.

Most likely it's because they are flushig the 2 days worth of blocks sitting in the proxys to the keyserver.

- Connection Refused By Server: Error 10061

This error means that the server is either too busy to accept more

connections, or possibly has been taken down for maintenance.

Hmmm, no trouble for me to connect to the keyserver.

You guys want to shoot them to me first?
You can stop your proxy first and backup your work, then send it over.

My IP 24.9.201.178 port 4556 note that this is not the default port.

Does anyone know if Mika's proxy is still holding blocks? I flushed thru Mika's proxy, and none of my blocks have appeared yet.

Joe-

It appears that the keyserver kept accepting blocks, while the hard drive lost them. After a while, the keyserver started to reject connections sometimes. That is when I stopped flushing. My theory is that they are gone.

MM-

I'm getting your blocks with a bunch of time-outs, worst that I have seen for a while. I've sent over 800 of yours upstream so far though.
Have you tried Mika's Gamma proxy? Joe and a few others find that it works better for them than mine.

I piled up a 1100 outbuffer on one of my computers while waiting for the stats to work again. I have already flushed ~1800 today but the one buffer doesn't flush more than 1 at a time and it has happened before but it was only ~300 Wu's. Is the outbuffer Corrupted or what? What can be done.

Yes I am flushing to keys.dcypher.net.

I remember somthing about somebody fixing buffers by removing the damaged data by a hexeditor?

BTW Wiztech can I try to flush throught your pproxy?
