Hey kids,

I'm gonna be in Dallas next week and would like some info. I'm going to be staying near the convention center most of the time. Eats, entertainment, etc. etc.? Sunday afternoon, I'm going to rent a car and I don't have to catch my return flight 'till Wednesday. Was thinking about San Antonio, but...looking for ideas on what I should.should not see. Any/all suggestions will be appreciated.

Four days on the road in Texas, what would you do/see?🙂

Rossm....er ah Rossper....er...er....ahh.ahh RossOldMan, thankx for the point. But that thread, kinda like this one got minimal response. Any Ideas how I can get more info from the Anantech "clan". Any Ideas?

I used to live there, so here is a breif run down...

Deep Ellum- area near downtown with clubs/bars and live music
West End - in downtown, food and a few clubs
The Mavs/Stars are playing in the brand new American Airlines Center, which I have heard is very nice
There are alot of places to go shopping, like The Galleria, and two new supermalls opened after I left.

If you are planning on renting a car, Austin and the Hill Country are very pretty areas. You could drive down and stay in a bed and breakfast in/near Fredricksburg which is a pretty area... I could come up with more stuff but I have got to go.... hope it helps.

A mavs game would be alot of fun. They are playing awesome ball right now. San Antonio is a fun city, but unless you really like history/zoos/sea animals, the riverwalk would be about the extent of the fun. Austin would be my choice as Texas-best. There is so much to do, and the area is much prettier, imho, than any other part of texas. If you are just looking to kill time, you could drive to El Paso and back. By the time you return from that trip you will be like Dorothy awaking from her dream, "There's no place like home, there's no place like home."

Well, keep in mind that Addison is considered "DFW's Kitchen". There is almost any type of restraunt there that you could really want. Entertainment really depends on your interests, but there are tons of malls and movie theaters around here. I generally consider the DFW metroplex one of the more boring cities to live in.

As for going to San Antonio/Austin, keep in mind its a 3 hour drive (if you drive over the speed limit, 2 1/2 if you drive like me).

Definetly go check out a Mavs/Stars game at the new AA center - that place is toooooooooo sweet 😀 If you can, stop by the Ballpark in Arlington (relates mostly to unclJigga - it should have a preseason game on by then) Snuffulufagus mentioned the West End, Deep Ellum - both really nice places to hang out at. Mallwise you have The Galleria, (super fancy super rich mall) Grapevine Mills, (huge mall that's an oval shape, like over a mile - has a 30 screen movie theater, Rainforest Cafe, Gameworks, 2 ice skating rinks among other things) The Shops at Willow Bend, (brand new mall but pretty much aimed towards the $$ elite like the Galleria) couple other ones that are nice but probably not worth mentioning. The Dallas Zoo is pretty nice as is the Fort Worth Zoo (the FW zoo is supposedly better, never been though). Downtown is a great place to walk through, lots to see and do. (Not including West End/Deep Ellum) Speed Zone is pretty fun if you've never been (albeit, expensive). That's all I can think of off the top of my head right now but there's more to do than that
